Amid the exciting news that the Kansas City Royals are playing in the World Series, Josh Ostergaard, author of The Devil's Snake Curve, penned an original essay about his favorite team for the New Yorker's The Sporting Scene blog on October 15. In it, Ostergaard describes, "Loyalty is a basic tenet of fandom. About fifty percent of Americans leave their spouses, but it's still taboo to break up with the baseball team of your youth." Ploughshares wrote a review on October 16 about Curve, with writer Miles Wray saying, "even as a lifelong fan of baseball, I had never thought to weave its history into the greater world's history in these intriguing ways."
On October 21, Jonathan D. Moreno, author of Impromptu Man, wrote an op-ed piece for Slate titled "Social Networking Didn't Start at Harvard." The same day he was interviewed by WHYY-FM (NPR)/Radio Times in Delaware Valley. In both instances, Moreno talked about his father's contributions to psychiatry and social psychology, the enduring impact his contributions have had in the theater, and Moreno's own reasons for writing a biography of his father.
